Energy Audit Engineer

JOB TITLE

Energy Audit Engineer

DUTIES

Entry level engineer position. Conduct energy audits, including NYC LL87, LLPR and verification inspections. Recognize and recommend various types of energy efficiency measures, including low-cost measures as well as capital retrofit and equipment replacement measures. Analyze utility data and evaluate energy consumption; address any abnormalities in energy usage with client. Inventory “envelope” and lighting in common areas.  Study building mechanical systems and prepare proper equipment to perform functional testing, including data loggers, anemometer, thermocouples. Check all mechanical systems such as boilers, cooling towers, chillers, pumps, elevators and start functional tests. Analyze recorded data from functional tests and suggest methods to improve systems. Communicate with clients to inform of deficiencies observed according to current law. Suggest methods to fix deficiencies. Perform savings calculations. Write comprehensive report and prepare progress reports to management.  Establish and maintain completion date for projects.  Submit project reports to city or other local government bodies as required.

REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or Energy Engineering or related engineering field, with at least three (3) months experience in mechanical or environmental health and safety engineering (teaching or undergrad work is acceptable) working on engineering projects that include: analysis of emissions for efficiency, design specification values, calculations of heat transfer, mechanics of materials. Must use Matlab, AutoCad and Microsoft Office applications.
